Limerick Celtics National League Women’s into National Cup Semifinal with great win v rivals Huskies 81 to 71 at St Munchins.
Celtics fans packed the away venue Saturday at our women’s National league team kept hopes of retaining their National Cup alive with a super win v great rivals Huskies. The standard of women’s basketball in Limerick continues to grow and an outstanding exhibition of basketball was on view.
Celtics rising star Amy Buckley started the game like a whirlwind and was unmarkable in the first quarter giving Celtics a lead at the end of q1.
Huskies fought back in q2 to take the lead but Stephanie McBride took control of the boards and kept the game close.
The 3rd q was nip and tuck crucial scores from Louise Scannel and Shelby Harmeyer had celtics down 1 at the break.
Celtics finished strong the rewards of coach Jordan Hehirs hard work in practice with 25 q4 points , 13 points from Captain Sabhbh Edwards Murphy in the final quarter wrapped it up 81 to 71 to celtics to the delight of their fans. And now onto Cork for the National cup semifinals weekend. #goceltics
